No.11 Oh Canada

Laneway No.11 Gin oh Canada G&T

The bright, fresh flavours of our No.11 Gin are just the thing to liven up your Canada Day celebrations! Fresh herbs, tart lime and luscious local strawberries – this will become one of your new summer favourites. This drink works equally well with tonic, elderflower tonic or sparkling water.

Add to a tall glass:

  • 1 ½ oz No.11 Gin

  • 1 oz Strawberry Basil Simple Syrup*

  • 1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice

  • 3-4 sliced fresh strawberries

Stir, then gently add crushed ice to the glass until it is about 1 inch from the top. Slowly pour in tonic or sparkling water until almost to the level of the ice. Ensure that you are pouring directly onto the ice to prevent mixing with the contents in the bottom of the glass.

Top with sliced strawberries and a few fresh basil leaves. Include a stir stick for your guests to mix the drink (once they are done admiring it!) and muddle the basil leaves.

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Difficulty: 3/5

* Strawberry Basil Simple Syrup

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, chopped

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup of water

  • 20 fresh Thai basil leaves (or substitute any fresh basil)

Combine all ingredients except basil in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, until fruit is visibly soft and mixture is syrupy. Do not stir as this will cause your syrup to become cloudy. Remove from heat, add basil leaves and allow to cool. Strain through a jelly bag into a clean glass jar, without pressing. Store in the refrigerator. Makes about 16-18 oz – enough for 16-18 cocktails.
